Just a quickie to introduce Disco AKA The Plum!

Where do I start! Monday and Tuesday were exhausting and busy! Since our adventure with the giraffes we have been out to a beautiful house outside the outskirts of Nairobi, bordered by the Nairobi National Park. The house belongs to Tiana, one of the AG team. It is a beautiful spot. While there we introduced ourselves to some of the insect life and checked out their new gas system that runs off methane!

We managed to assist Tiana in her visa application for South Africa and a International Driving Permit. We also went to a clinic and made ourselves drink a disgusting dose of live Cholera vaccine! YUCK! However if it means less upset tummies then it can only be a good thing!

Then we headed back to Hog Ranch to meet our cameraman Jeandre who flew in to Nairobi from Johannesburg. It was quite a chaotic meeting as almost all the AG team turned up at the Ranch too and the reunion was celebrated with a lot of drinks! Including a pretty potent bloody mary concoction! Unfortunately I had to resist because we were also meeting our newly acquired 4x4 which was kindly and NOT uneventfully driven up to Kenya from Zimbabwe by Ben our antipodean AG team member. The rest of the crew didn't quite manage to resist the cocktails so after only 4 hours sleep Tuesday was a struggle!

Here are a few snaps unfortunately taken this evening instead of during the day - of our little beauty!

Today we actually started to film! Jonny had his first try at being a sound man and did very well and Jean has already proven his capability not only through tech talk but also by his initiative and camera abilities. So pretty damn good day all round! Oh and we have also managed to learn some of the roads around where we are staying and only got lost once on the way to the shops! Phew!

  2. Hope so! Although no point cleaning it as we're starting the trip tomorrow and even though its only a 300KM drive, apparently it could take us up to 8 hours as the roads are so bad!!

  5. Great to have your news & photos. Glad to hear that you have finally met 'The Plum' hope it will prove to be a fruitful relationship!!!
Hope she wasn't the cause of the 'not uneventful' journey!
Wonderful that you've finally started filming after all your planning - well done you!
We spent Monday afternoon hull flying on the Hobie, on the lake, and had a fantastic time.
Yesterday, as the weather was not so good, we went to the 'parc ornithologique, & saw loads of birds, several of which we had never seen before. We both got eaten by mosquitoes in the hides! We also discovered that our Red Kites at the campsite are, in fact, Black Kites and the birds we always call 'blue' Robins (which we knew were not Indian Blue Robins) are in fact Bluethroats!
Well, all the best for tomorrow - looking forward to your blogs whenever you can send them.
Don't do what the 'Men Brewing Badly' did - they got the local Witch Doctor to supposedly give them 'Good Luck' and their lorry broke down soon after and they fell out with each other!! However they soon got another vehicle and became friends again! As they said - there are no problems, only solutions! (Phil says - easy to say when you are funded by ITV!)
Anyway, all our love to you & Jonny - take care xxx

  6. Hello guys, just wanted to wish you all good luck and happy filming. Of course, footy is all over the news and were all mad bonkers for it guvnor! Love your wheels, we will call it 'Nanny Plum' after bridget's favourite fairy on Ben & Holly. The good news is that she takes care of everyone, so hope your wheels do too. The bad news is that she is a stubborn cow! Love the Blackstones. X x x x

  7. Hi there!

The picture reminds me of how our vehicle looked when crossing the Andes! It will look after you if you respect it and always look FAR AHEAD for potential problems on the road.
Love all the pictures. So glad you all make such a great film team...by the end of the week you will have settled in and know how you all complement each other.
My exam is Thursday. Will be SO RELIEVED to have it behind me.
